JB vs. 1D
A strong economy is important for music groups so that people buy their albums and merchandise, so the record labels and music producers get money and so that music venues and arenas make a profit. One Direction has had ticket success with their two world tours. Their 2012 concert tickets sold out within hours and Madison Square Garden sold out in ten minutes. (Bieber sold out the Garden in 30 seconds) Justin Bieber, who has been popular for many years, holds the second spot on TicketNews' event rankings and One Direction is in the fourth spot. With One Direction gaining more and more fame they may surpass the Biebs eventually. One Direction is also estimated to have 7% more ticket sales than Justin Bieber. Some 1D tickets are being sold for double or triple the face value and some people are even willing to pay up to $3,000 just to see the teen heartthrobs in concert. With One Direction becoming increasingly popular more venues want to book them and that generates a lot of money for them from ticket sales.
