On many occasions One Direction has been compared to the Beatles due to the fact that they are both bands from the UK that have a lot of success throughout the world. But comparing One Direction to such legends may be an exaggeration for now, but you never know what these five boys will amount to. One day they could be bigger than the Beatles. When addressed about being compared to the Beatles, Harry Styles had this to say, "That seems ridiculous to us, because they were such icons. But we watched a film of their first US trip and there were similarities. We’re as close as them despite not being together long." Both bands have the power to make girls scream with just one flip of the hair or singing a song about love. They are both very powerful in the music charts. The Beatles have sold 2 billion albums, and in a year One Direction has already sold 12 million with their two albums, Up All Night and Take Me Home. The Beatles earned over a billion dollars and so far One Direction has made around 162 million from songs, DVDs, albums, merchandise, appearances, and endorsements. Not only did the Beatles influence the economy they influenced pop culture greatly and paved the way for future musicians such as One Direction.
